What Y2Mate does

Y2Mate is a free web tool for turning YouTube videos into MP4 video or MP3 audio files. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no app, extension or account to set up.

You paste a link, see the available qualities with their real file sizes and tap the file you want. When it is ready, you tap Download and it comes straight to your device from our processing partner's servers.

How it works

• Find a YouTube video, Short or music track and copy its link.
• Drop the link into the box and pick MP4 or MP3 plus a quality.
• Tap a quality, wait a moment, then tap Download to save the file.

Results and download links appear in the same place on the page, so you never lose track of your file.

Formats and qualities

Videos can be saved as MP4 in every quality the video offers, from 144p up to 1080p Full HD. Audio can be saved as MP3 at 320, 256 or 128 kbps. Files can be up to 2 GB, and each video quality shows its size before you start, so there are no surprises.

Honest limits

We prefer to be clear about what the tool can and cannot do:

• Private or removed videos can't be saved; public ones can.
• Each file can be up to 2 GB; for a very long video, choose a lower quality.
• A link brings in a single video, never a full playlist.
• Video tops out at 1080p.

Made for your phone

Most people use Y2Mate on a phone, so the page is built for small screens first: a large paste box, big buttons, results in the same place and a clear Download button for each file. It works just as well on a computer.

Some apps open links in their own built-in browser, which can block downloads. If that happens, open the page in Chrome or Safari and try again.
